New Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System
Pump & Machinery Co has invested in new Information Technology that will improve internal efficiencies and provide customers with an enhanced, more personal service.
The new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System is based on software that enables individual customer information to be placed on our central server, which our sales engineers or customer service staff can log into from anywhere in New Zealand (or the world).
Examples of information recorded would be the names of contact people at each company, their contact details, industry sector, topics discussed on site visits, pump audit results, product quotations given, next visit date reminders, and other details relative to the customer’s processes and business. No personal, confidential or intrusive information will be recorded and no other companies will be given access to the data base.
The benefit of having the information centrally located is that anyone at Pump & Machinery Co can instantly look up the information and help a customer if they call us, even if the person with whom they usually deal is not available. It also means that our sale team can easily review previous calls or visit reports before contacting a customer, as well as follow up on outstanding quotes and ensure that previous customer requests have been actioned.
The CRM system links to our accounting software so individual customer sales information can be viewed so that our sales engineers always have relevant information (eg pumps previously purchased) on hand when visiting customers.
The next phase of our CRM development will be to use our data base to send our customers newsletters, industry trends, relevant product information and generally keep in touch with them to ensure that we are satisfying their needs. The industry segmentation of customers and other details in the CRM system will ensure that we only send useful information that is relevant to their specific requirements. All communiqués with customers will be permission-based and we are sure they will be read with interest, as they will be specifically geared towards individual customer needs.
The purpose of our CRM system is to help us get even closer to our customers and provide them with a personalized service. CRM will enable us to get to know our customers on an individual basis so that we can professionally service their individual requirements.

Pumping Thick and Thin
Pump & Machinery Co has recommended JEC sanitary pumps to many different dairy industry manufacturers. They are high quality AISI 316 stainless steel pumps that are competitively priced and designed to allow easy maintenance and CIP (clean in place). The pumps are 3-A Standard and EHEDG approved (European Hygienic Equipment Design Group).
The JEC range consists of several sizes of rotary lobe pumps, centrifugal pumps, and self-priming side-channel centrifugal pumps. They are precision engineered using computer controlled manufacturing processes, which results in improved pump performance, reliability and longer life. This in turn means better manufacturing efficiencies, lower energy costs, cheaper maintenance costs and fewer pump replacements.
The rotary lobe pumps treat fluids gently, ensuring low shear and minimal foaming to maintain product quality. These versatile pumps can handle both thin and viscous products and are self priming. They can be fitted with single, twin, tri or gear lobes to exactly configure them for specific applications, which results in high efficiencies. As with the centrifugal pumps, they are easy to maintain and clean in place. A thermal jacket can be fitted if pumped fluids need to be heated or cooled. A rotary lobe truck pump has been specially designed for loading and unloading tanker trucks carrying food grade or pharmaceutical products.
The centrifugal pumps perform at a high efficiency level which gives the benefit of low energy consumption. This is achieved by the spiral shaped casing and a double curved impeller, which reduces friction and turbulence and increases suction capacity (low net positive suction head). Despite the higher performance level, fluids are handled gently compared with normal centrifugal pumps, thereby safeguarding product integrity. The pumps operate at a low noise level which allows safer and more comfortable manufacturing conditions.
JEC's self-priming side-channel centrifugal pumps are well suited to pump fluids containing varying amounts of air or gas, which cannot be pumped by a normal centrifugal pump. One of their many applications is using them as return pumps in CIP (clean in place) cleaning systems. Innovative design features minimise noise levels well below the level normally characteristic of this type of pump.
The rotary lobe, centrifugal and self-priming centrifugal pumps all have several options for mechanical seals, leg and base mountings and can be fitted with either ISO, DIN, SMS, BS or flange pipe connections. The centrifugal pumps can be fitted with different size impellers to configure them precisely for specific applications.
Pump & Machinery Co describe JEC as a leading pump manufacturer in South Korea whose modern technology and R&D programmes back up their commitment to quality. JEC pumps are rapidly gaining market share throughout the world, due to innovative design features, high efficiencies, quality products and competitive prices.
